- Chill your margarita glass in the freezer for at least five minutes to keep the drink cold longer.
- Pour 0.5 ounce fresh lime juice into a shallow dish and spread salt on a plate for rimming the glass.
- Dip the rim of the chilled glass into the lime juice, then rotate it in salt until evenly coated.
- Fill your cocktail shaker with ice cubes, filling it about halfway.
- Measure and pour 2 ounces of Don Julio tequila into the shaker.
- Add 0.5 ounce of triple sec or Cointreau to the shaker.
- Add 1 ounce of fresh lime juice to the shaker, ensuring no pulp or seeds are included.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside is ice-cold.
- Strain the margarita into the prepared glass, leaving the ice behind.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately while cold.
Notes
Don't cheap out on ice; use quality ice or freeze water in an ice tray at least 24 hours ahead of time.
