Ingredients

Main
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 lime cut into wedges
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or to taste
  • 50 ml white rum
  • Club soda to top off
  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Measuring jigger
  • serving glass
  • Straw (optional)

Method

  1. In a sturdy glass, combine the mint leaves and lime wedges. Use a muddler to gently press them together to release the mint oils and lime juice.
  2. Sprinkle the sugar over the muddled mint and lime.
  3. Pour in the white rum and stir gently to mix all the flavors together.
  4. Add ice cubes to the glass until it’s nearly full.
  5. Pour club soda over the ice, filling the glass to your desired level.
  6. Use a straw or a spoon to stir the drink gently.
  7. Optional: Garnish with a sprig of mint or a lime wheel.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use fresh mint for the best flavor; bruised leaves release more oils and aroma.
