Ingredients

Main
  • 10 fresh mint leaves - for that aromatic flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar - to balance the tartness.
  • 1 lime - fresh juice adds zing.
  • 2 ounces white rum - the spirit of the mojito.
  • Club soda - to top it off and add fizz.
  • Ice cubes - to keep it cool and refreshing.

Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring spoon
  • Serving glasses
  • Stirring spoon

Method

  1. Add the mint leaves and sugar to a sturdy glass and gently muddle until the oils are released.
  2. Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice into the glass, discarding the halves.
  3. Pour in the white rum and stir to mix with the mint and lime.
  4. Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill the drink.
  5. Top the mixture with club soda until the glass is nearly full.
  6. Use a stirring spoon to gently mix the cocktail without shaking.
  7. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of lime.
  8. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring stick and enjoy.

Notes

Always use fresh ingredients for the best flavor; stale mint or lime can ruin your mojito.
