Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 6 to 8 lemons
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes for serving optional
  • Lemon slices for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Large pitcher (at least 2 quarts)
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Long spoon or whisk
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Strainer (optional)

Method

  1. Roll 6 to 8 fresh lemons on a countertop for about 10 seconds each to release extra juice.
  2. Cut lemons in half and extract 1 cup of fresh lemon juice using a citrus juicer or hand reamer.
  3. Pour lemon juice through a strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp and seeds, if desired.
  4. Add 3/4 cup granulated sugar to the pitcher and stir with lemon juice for 1 minute until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  5. Pour in 6 cups of cold water and stir for 30 seconds to combine.
  6. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness by adding 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar or dilute with 1/4 cup more water as needed.
  7. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the ice immediately.
  8. Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and serve chilled.

Notes

Make the lemonade the night before and refrigerate to let flavors meld for an even more refreshing taste without diluting with ice.
