Method
- Pour 1 cup of filtered water into a kettle or small saucepan.
- Bring the water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- While the water heats, place 4 to 6 whole cloves into a mug or teacup.
- Once the water boils, carefully pour it over the cloves in the mug.
- Add any optional enhancements such as 1 cinnamon stick, 1 teaspoon honey, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, or a slice of fresh ginger while the water is hottest.
- Let the tea steep undisturbed for 6 to 8 minutes, depending on desired strength.
- Use a tea strainer or spoon to remove the cloves and any other solids from the tea.
- Taste the tea and stir in additional honey or lemon juice if needed.
- Enjoy the cloves tea immediately while hot for best flavor.
Notes
Serve immediately and enjoy hot. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave if desired.
