  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 8 ounces filtered hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger grated (optional)
  • 1 small pinch sea salt

  • 8-ounce mug or drinking glass
  • Kettle for heating water
  • Measuring spoons

  • Small whisk or spoon for stirring
  • Knife for cutting lemon
  • Citrus juicer or fork

Method
 

  1. Heat 8 ounces of filtered water in a kettle until steaming hot, about 3 minutes.
  2. Cut and juice a fresh lemon to yield 2 tablespoons of juice.
  3. Add the lemon juice to an 8-ounce mug.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of raw honey and 1/2 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger to the mug.
  5. Add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder and a small pinch of sea salt to the mug.
  6. Pour the hot water into the mug while stirring continuously.
  7. Stir vigorously with a whisk or spoon for about 30 seconds until well combined.
  8. Taste the drink and adjust heat, sweetness, or acidity as desired.
  9. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.

Notes

Enjoy fresh for best flavor; stir before drinking as cayenne pepper settles.
