Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 green cardamom pods
  • 1 black tea bag or 1 tablespoon loose black tea
  • 2 tablespoons sugar to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk optional

Method
 

  1. Bring 2 cups water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan over high heat.
  2. Lightly crush 2 green cardamom pods with the back of a spoon to release the seeds.
  3. Add the crushed cardamom pods to the boiling water and let them infuse for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in 1 black tea bag (or 1 tablespoon loose black tea) and reduce heat to medium.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons sugar, stirring until fully dissolved.
  6. Let the mixture simmer on low heat for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
  7. If using milk, pour in 1/2 cup milk and heat for an additional 1 minute without boiling.
  8. Strain the tea into mugs using a strainer or tea infuser and serve hot.

Notes

Serve warm. For an extra kick, add a pinch of black pepper with the cardamom.
