  • 2 shots espresso or 3/4 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup whole milk or milk of choice
  • 2 tablespoons butterscotch syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Additional butterscotch syrup for drizzle

Equipment

  • Espresso machine or strong coffee maker
  • Milk frother or steam wand
  • Large coffee mug
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or spoon

Method
 

  1. Pull two shots of espresso into your mug, or brew 3/4 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method.
  2. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the butterscotch syrup and butter and stir gently for about 1 minute.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  4. Carefully pour the butterscotch and butter mixture into your mug with the espresso and stir well to combine.
  5. Steam the milk using a steam wand until hot and foamy, around 150 to 160°F, or heat gently in a saucepan until hot and foamy.
  6. Pour the steamed milk into your mug slowly, holding back the foam with a spoon to layer properly.
  7. Spoon the remaining milk foam on top, creating a half-inch layer.
  8. Drizzle additional butterscotch syrup over the foam and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately for best flavor and foam.
