Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1 tablespoon 5 to 7 grams dried burdock root slices
  • 8 ounces 1 cup filtered water
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon honey optional
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice optional
  • Pinch of ground ginger optional

  • Kettle or pot for boiling water
  • tea infuser or fine mesh sieve
  • cup or mug
  • Spoon

Method
 

  1. Measure 1 tablespoon of dried burdock root slices and place them in a tea infuser or fine mesh sieve.
  2. Bring 8 ounces of filtered water to a full boil in a kettle or pot over high heat.
  3. Pour the boiling water over the burdock root in the infuser placed inside your cup.
  4. Cover the cup loosely and steep for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  5. Remove the infuser or strain the tea to discard the burdock root pieces.
  6. Taste the tea and add honey, lemon juice, or ginger if desired, stirring until blended.
  7. Serve the tea immediately while hot, or chill over ice for a cold beverage.

Notes

Store dried burdock root in an airtight container away from light and humidity for up to one year. Enjoy hot or chilled over ice.
