Main
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions sliced for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Peel and devein the shrimp, ensuring they are clean and ready to absorb flavors.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together bourbon, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes to create the glaze.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and slightly golden.
  5. Flip the shrimp and pour the bourbon sauce over them, coating evenly.
  6. Let the shrimp simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the shrimp.
  7. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed to enhance the flavors.
  8. Remove from heat, sprinkle with sliced green onions, and serve immediately for the best freshness.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
