Method
- Mix equal parts honey and hot water in a small container and let it cool completely before using.
- Add a generous handful of ice to your cocktail shaker, filling it about halfway.
- Pour 2 ounces of bourbon into the shaker using your jigger for accuracy.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice to measure 0.75 ounces and pour it into the shaker.
- Add 0.5 ounces of your prepared honey syrup to the shaker.
- Include your ginger juice or liqueur along with two dashes of Angostura bitters.
- Seal your shaker firmly and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds, until the outside becomes frosty and cold.
- Use your cocktail strainer to pour the drink into a rocks glass filled with large ice cubes.
- Express a lemon twist over the drink to release its oils, then drop it in as garnish and optionally add a fresh sprig of rosemary for aroma.
Notes
Honey syrup can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
