Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces 60 ml bourbon whiskey
  • 6 to 8 fresh blackberries
  • 0.75 ounces 22 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounces 15 ml crème de mûre
  • 0.5 ounces 15 ml simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice 6 to 8 cubes
  • Fresh blackberries or lemon wheel for garnish

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger for measuring
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glass or coupe glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice mold or ice maker
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer

Method
 

  1. Fill a rocks glass with fresh ice cubes and set aside.
  2. Add 6 to 8 fresh blackberries to a cocktail shaker and muddle gently for 3 to 4 presses to release juice.
  3. Pour 2 ounces of bourbon and 0.5 ounces of crème de mûre into the shaker with the muddled berries.
  4. Add 0.75 ounces of fresh lemon juice and 0.5 ounces of simple syrup to the shaker.
  5. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with about 1 cup of fresh ice.
  6. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the exterior is frosty.
  7. Strain the mixture through a fine strainer into the prepared ice-filled rocks glass.
  8. Garnish with fresh blackberries or a lemon wheel and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh berries and chill glassware ahead of time for best flavor and presentation.
