Method
- Place your margarita or coupe glass in the freezer for at least five minutes to chill.
- Pour a thin layer of kosher salt onto a small plate. Wet the rim of the chilled glass with a lime wheel, then dip the rim into the salt to coat evenly.
- Place 8 to 10 fresh blackberries in the cocktail shaker and muddle gently with a muddler or wooden spoon until the berries break down and release their juice, about 10 seconds.
- Add 2 ounces of silver tequila and 0.75 ounces of fresh lime juice to the shaker; stir briefly to combine.
- Pour 0.5 ounces of agave nectar into the shaker, ensuring the sweetener mixes with the fruit and spirits.
- Fill the shaker three-quarters full with cubed or crushed ice.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds until the outside feels frosty.
- Strain the margarita through a cocktail strainer into the prepared salt-rimmed glass.
- Garnish with a fresh blackberry dropped into the drink and a lime wheel on the rim, then serve immediately.
Notes
Make a batch by multiplying ingredients and storing the base (without ice) in a covered pitcher for up to four hours. Shake each serving with fresh ice before pouring.
