Method
- Chill the rocks glass in the freezer for at least 15 minutes or fill with ice water while preparing the cocktail.
- Fill the chilled glass three-quarters full with a mix of crushed ice and large ice cubes.
- Place 8 to 10 fresh blackberries in a cocktail shaker and muddle gently for about 5 seconds to release juice without crushing the seeds.
- Add 2 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey, 0.5 ounce dry vermouth, 0.5 ounce blackberry liqueur, 0.75 ounce fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 ounce simple syrup to the shaker.
- Add 1 cup of ice (a mix of crushed and cubed) to the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until well chilled.
- Strain the cocktail into the prepared ice-filled glass using a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer, leaving the berry pulp and excess ice behind.
- Garnish with 3 to 4 fresh blackberries on a cocktail pick and a lemon twist, expressing the lemon oils over the drink before dropping it in.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the Blackberry Bramble Cocktail.
Notes
For best results use fresh blackberries and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Adjust the simple syrup to taste and chill all ingredients before mixing.
