Method
- Place a cocktail or rocks glass in the freezer and chill for at least 2 minutes.
- Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Pour 1.5 ounces dry gin, 0.75 ounces fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 ounces simple syrup into the shaker.
- Add 8 to 10 fresh blackberries and gently muddle for about 10 seconds to release juices without pulverizing the seeds.
- Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels frosty.
- Remove the chilled glass from the freezer and fill it with fresh ice cubes.
- Strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared glass, catching any pulp with the strainer.
- Float 0.5 ounces of blackberry liqueur by slowly pouring it over the back of a bar spoon just above the drink surface.
- Garnish with a lemon wheel or twist and a fresh mint sprig, then serve immediately.
Notes
Serve immediately in a chilled glass to maintain optimum temperature and flavor.
