Ingredients

Main
  • 2 tablespoons black sesame paste
  • 1 cup whole milk or milk of choice
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons hot water

Equipment

  • Whisk or milk frother
  • Measuring spoons
  • Coffee mug or serving cup
  • Spoon for stirring

Method

  1. Add 2 tablespoons black sesame paste and 2 tablespoons hot water to a mug and stir until smooth.
  2. Heat 1 cup milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steamy and small bubbles form at about 150°F, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir 1 to 2 teaspoons honey and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract into the sesame mixture until fully combined.
  4. Pour 1/4 of the hot milk into the mug while stirring constantly to emulsify the paste, about 30 seconds.
  5. Add the remaining milk and whisk vigorously for 30 seconds until the latte is frothy and well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if desired and a pinch of salt to enhance the sesame flavor.
  7. Stir once more for about 5 seconds to ensure even distribution of flavors.
  8. Serve immediately in a warmed mug for the best temperature and texture.
