Method
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of a highball or rocks glass to moisten it for the salt rim.
- Pour a small amount of sea salt onto a plate and gently press the moistened rim into the salt, rotating to coat evenly.
- Fill the salted glass generously with ice cubes to ensure the drink stays chilled.
- Measure and pour 2 ounces of tequila over the ice using a jigger.
- Squeeze half a lime to extract about 1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice and add it to the glass.
- Add 3 ounces of tomato juice to the glass, pouring it over the ice and tequila.
- Season with 1 dash of Maggi seasoning and 2 to 3 dashes of hot sauce, starting conservatively and adjusting to taste.
- Stir gently for about 10 seconds with a bar spoon to fully incorporate the ingredients, then taste and adjust seasoning or lime if desired.
- Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and serve immediately while cold.
Notes
Chill the glass before assembling the cocktail to keep the Batanga cold longer.
