Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces 60 ml Bacardi white rum
  • 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 fresh lime cut into 2 wedges
  • 1/2 ounce about 1 tablespoon or 15 ml white sugar or simple syrup
  • 4 ounces 120 ml club soda or soda water
  • 6 to 8 ice cubes

Equipment

  • Tall glass (highball or collins glass)
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Bar spoon or long stirring spoon
  • Cocktail strainer (optional)
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Citrus juicer or your hands

Method
 

  1. Fill a tall glass halfway with ice cubes.
  2. Place 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves into the glass with the ice.
  3. Drop both lime wedges into the glass.
  4. Pour 1/2 ounce of white sugar or simple syrup into the glass.
  5. Gently muddle the mint and lime with a muddler or back of a wooden spoon about 10 to 15 times to release oils and juice.
  6. Add 2 ounces of Bacardi white rum to the glass.
  7. Stir the mixture for 10 to 15 seconds to combine.
  8. Pour about 4 ounces of cold club soda into the glass and stir gently.
  9. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a lime wheel, then serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately and enjoy within 5 minutes for the best carbonation and mint aroma.
