Ingredients

Main
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar raw and unfiltered works best
  • 6 ounces sparkling water
  • 2 ounces apple cider or apple juice as a substitute
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 2 to 3 slices fresh apple for garnish
  • 5 to 6 ice cubes
Optional
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 slice fresh ginger
  • 1 sprig fresh mint

Equipment

  • Tall glass (10 to 12 ounces)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Bar spoon or long spoon

Method

  1. Fill a tall glass with 5 to 6 ice cubes to chill the glass and keep your drink cold longer.
  2. Measure 2 ounces of apple cider and pour it directly over the ice.
  3. Pour 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into the glass.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon of honey to the glass and stir vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the honey dissolves completely into the liquid.
  5. Pour 6 ounces of sparkling water slowly into the glass, pouring down the side to preserve the carbonation.
  6. Use a bar spoon or long spoon to stir the mixture gently for 5 to 10 seconds to combine the flavors without flattening the bubbles.
  7. Slice 2 to 3 thin slices from a fresh apple and float them on top of the drink.
  8. Add optional garnish such as a cinnamon stick, a thin slice of fresh ginger, or a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately while the bubbles are still lively.

Notes

For batch concentrate, combine 1 cup apple cider vinegar, 1 cup apple cider, and 1/4 cup honey in a jar and refrigerate for up to two weeks. Pour 2 ounces of concentrate over ice and top with 6 ounces of sparkling water for instant spritzers. Use raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar for best flavor and probiotic benefits. Chill ingredients ahead of time for the crispest taste.
