Anti-Inflammatory Tea

Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh turmeric grated
  • 1 tablespoon honey or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of black pepper optional

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Measuring spoons
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Teapot or heat-proof pitcher
  • Measuring cup

Method
 

  1. Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan over high heat.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger and 1 tablespoon grated fresh turmeric to the boiling water.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes to allow flavors to infuse.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer into a teapot or heat-proof pitcher.
  5. Stir in 1 tablespoon of honey while the tea is still warm until fully dissolved.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and stir gently to combine.
  7. If desired, add a pinch of black pepper to enhance turmeric absorption and stir well.
  8. Pour the tea into cups and serve warm, or chill and serve over ice for a refreshing iced version.

Notes

Adjust honey and lemon to taste. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
