Method
- Start by thoroughly sanitizing all your equipment.
- In your brewing kettle, heat 5 gallons of filtered water to about 165°F.
- Add the crushed Pale and Crystal malts to the water, maintaining around 150-155°F for 30 minutes.
- After mashing, remove the grains and bring the liquid (wort) to a boil.
- Once boiling, add the Centennial hops and boil for 60 minutes.
- With 15 minutes left in the boil, add the Amarillo hops. Then, when the boil ends, add the Citra hops.
- After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
- Transfer the cooled wort to the fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast.
- Seal it with an airlock and let it ferment in a dark, cool area for about two weeks.
Notes
This IPA pairs well with spicy buffalo wings, grilled burgers, cheesy nachos, barbecue ribs, and salty pretzels.
