Ingredients

Main
  • 2 medium-sized beets
  • 1 medium orange
  • 1 medium lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional
  • 1 cup water or more for desired consistency

Equipment

  • Juicer or blender
  • Strainer (if using a blender)
  • Measuring cups
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Glass for serving

Method

  1. Start by washing your beets thoroughly, as they can be quite muddy. Trim off the greens and any rough bits to get them ready for juicing.
  2. Peeling is crucial because the skin can have a strong earthy flavor. Use a vegetable peeler to remove the skin easily.
  3. Chop the beets into smaller chunks to make them easier to juice.
  4. If using a juicer, feed the beet chunks through the chute. If using a blender, blend the beets with some water until smooth, then strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.
  5. Cut the orange and lemon in half and juice them using a citrus juicer.
  6. Mix the beet juice with the citrus juice in a pitcher. If you like it sweeter, add honey at this stage and stir well.
  7. Add water to the mixture to reach your desired consistency.
  8. Pour the juice into glasses and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and health benefits.

Notes

Always drink beet juice fresh to reap the maximum health benefits and enjoy that vibrant flavor.
