Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves plus extra for garnish
  • Ice for serving

Equipment

  • Large pitcher
  • Juicer
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Start by rolling the lemons on the countertop. This helps release more juice when you cut them.
  2. Cut the lemons in half and juice them until you have about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with the sugar and mint leaves. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat and let the mint steep for about 10 minutes.
  5. Strain the syrup into a large pitcher to remove the mint leaves.
  6. Add the lemon juice and the remaining 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
  7. Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to chill.
  8. Serve the lemonade over ice and garnish with extra mint leaves.

Notes

Adjust the sugar to your taste; you can add more or less depending on your preference.
