Ingredients

Main
  • 10-12 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or simple syrup
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • Crushed ice
  • Mint sprig for garnish

Equipment

  • Muddler or spoon
  • Julep cup or glass
  • Measuring jigger
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Ice (crushed or cubed)

Method

  1. In a julep cup, add the mint leaves and sugar. Use a muddler to gently crush the mint, releasing its oils without tearing the leaves.
  2. Pour in the bourbon over the muddled mint and sugar.
  3. Pack the cup tightly with crushed ice.
  4. Using a spoon, stir the mixture gently from the bottom to combine everything.
  5. Top off the cup with more crushed ice, creating a mound above the rim.
  6. Add a fresh mint sprig on top for garnish.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing experience.
  8. Take a moment to appreciate the drink before diving in.
