Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons green tea leaves or 2 tea bags
  • 1/4 cup tapioca pearls
  • 1/4 cup sugar or honey for sweetness
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • Ice cubes as needed

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Large bowl
  • Strainer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ice blender or shaker
  • Bubble tea straws

Method

  1. Start by bringing 2 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Remove the boiling water from heat and add the green tea leaves or tea bags. Let it steep for about 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add the tapioca pearls. Cook them according to package instructions, usually around 15 to 20 minutes, until they are chewy.
  4. After steeping, remove the tea leaves or bags. Stir in sugar or honey while the tea is still warm.
  5. Once cooked, drain the tapioca pearls and rinse them under cold water.
  6. In a large glass, add the cooked tapioca pearls, then pour in the sweetened green tea. Add the milk to create a creamy texture.
  7. Add ice cubes to the glass, filling it to your preference.
  8. Give everything a good stir to mix the flavors, then enjoy your homemade bubble tea with a wide straw.

Notes

Make sure to use fresh tapioca pearls for the best chewy texture; they can harden if left too long.
