Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes optional
  • Lemon slices for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Citrus juicer or reamer
  • Measuring cups
  • Pitcher
  • Stirring spoon
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Roll the lemons on the counter to soften them, then cut them in half. Use a citrus juicer to extract about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. In a large pitcher, mix the fresh lemon juice with the sugar syrup. Stir well to combine the flavors.
  4. Pour in 3 cups of cold water and stir. Taste and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice as needed.
  5. Let the lemonade chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over.
  7. Add lemon slices to each glass for garnish if desired.
  8. Enjoy your refreshing lemonade!

Notes

For a unique twist, try adding fresh mint leaves or infuse with herbs like basil for added flavor.
