Ingredients

Main
  • 10 lbs wheat malt
  • 5 lbs fresh apples peeled and chopped
  • 1 oz hops preferably Hallertau or similar
  • 1 packet wheat beer yeast
  • 5 lbs corn sugar for priming
  • 1 tsp pectic enzyme optional, for clarity
  • 1 tsp yeast nutrient

Equipment

  • Brewing kettle (at least 5 gallons)
  • Fermentation bucket with an airlock
  • Siphon and bottling equipment
  • Hydrometer
  • Sanitizer solution

Method

  1. Start by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing all your brewing equipment.
  2. In your brewing kettle, heat about 3 gallons of water to 150°F (65°C).
  3. Add the wheat malt and steep for 30 minutes while maintaining the temperature.
  4. Remove the grains and bring the liquid (wort) to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, add the hops and boil for 60 minutes.
  6. After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
  7. In a sanitized fermentation bucket, combine the cooled wort with the chopped apples.
  8. Sprinkle the yeast on top for fermentation.
  9. Seal the fermentation bucket with the airlock and store it in a cool, dark place for about a week.
  10. Once fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into sanitized bottles and add priming sugar for carbonation.
  11. Seal the bottles and let them carbonate for another week.

Notes

This beer is best served chilled in a tall glass to showcase its hazy beauty.
